Makayla's Birthday Card

The creation bug has hit me this weekend. I am really blessed to get this weekend to just do my crafts. It was a rainy Saturday so Faith's soccer game was cancelled. So I have had two solid days of crafting. I am loving it!!!!!

Faith's friend Makayla is turning 9 on the 19th of April so I created this card for her because she is really into skull and crossbones right now.

Mardi Party Card

Megan's Mardi Gras Party Card for her 23rd birthday.

I was playing around with my new Cricut Cartidges last night and made this card. I was at a standstill this morning thinking that this really needed something else when my friend Brenda came over and said every Mardi Gras Mask needs feathers. And as luck would have it I happened to have Feathers.

What do you think?

I used the following:

Basic Black Cardstock Stampin Up!
Whisper White Craft Ink Stampin Up!
Full of Life Stampin Up! Stamp Set
Storybook Cricut Cartridge for the design on the face
Storybook Cricut Cartridge for the shape of the card
Martha Stewart Glitter Glue
Martha Stewart Garnet Glitter *my favorite*
Diamond Dimensionals I picked up at Michaels.

Easter Basket

So pardon the pink grass it was all I could find...
I did a super cute easter basket from the following blog:

Her Tutorial can be found here:

Simple Happy Birthday

Here is card two from a Sleep deprived girl. I like how simple and clean this one turned out.

I used the following:

Chocolate Chip Card Stock

Very Versitale Stamp Set "Happy Birthday"

Ski Slope designer series paper

New Sizzix embossing plates.

Using the left overs

We were up all night with poor little Faith... Note to self no more pineapple for her. But it seems that when I am sleep deprived I am a crafting machine.

I decided to do a card using some of the leftovers from the bag book that I did "life's a beach".

This stamp set is from Angel Stamp Company one of the new vendors I have stumbled onto. I like some of the things that they sell. I am still a Stampin Up! girl at heart. There is no better ink and paper than Stampin Up! and I am beside myself waiting for the new digital scrapbooking software to come out.

Here is my "Work it Girl" card.

Finally finished the Proto Type for this month's swap

So I finally finished!!!!! The prototype that is. I made a few errors on this so when I do the other three I will try and fix them. This is the paper bag scrapbook. It has only taken me three weeks to decide how I was going to finish it. The swap was a 6x6 scrapbook page. So I decided to do this whole album instead.
I used the following supplies:
Bold Bright 8.5x11 paper
Just Beachy Set
Crab and Company Stamp Set
Antique Grommets
Corresponding ink with the bold bright paper
Just Beachy Roller
I love this paper bag album. It is so easy to do and super cute.

Family

It has been really nice to see my family. Here are the descriptions:

1st pic: Left to Right
Mom
Me
Grandma
Faith
Megan

2nd pic:
Mom
Faith
*I loved this picture of the two of them together*

3rd pic:
Dad
Faith

We are making some really great memories here and I wouldn't have missed this opportunity for the world.

The last picture is of my dad and daughter and the discussion Probabilities. It is amazing to see her have a real discussion with my dad. A discussion A discussion. I can't believe what a little person she is. Her own person. She sure is growing up fast. The reason it is so amazing for me to see her have a discussion with my dad is because he is probably the smartest person that I know and to see her holding her own in a conversation was so fascinating.

The majesty of Kansas

Don't laugh at me. You forget how much you miss home until you get there. But this is the first time since I have moved away that I can really appreciate Kansas for Kansas. I am so used to Maryland now that we have lived there for so long. We have so many trees, animals, and hills. We also have traffic and lots and lots of rude people. I had forgotten how nice people in Kansas are. I never realized it until this trip. I have started to become one of those people living in Maryland so long that I don't stop and talk to the checker at the grocery store anymore. It has been nice to get a little infusion of Kansas back.

We were out at my niece's other grandmother's farm and it was so lovely. This is her barn. I have climbed into the loft of this myself as a young girl and looked for kittens. My daughter loved being here. Just wish Ron had been around I think he would have enjoyed seeing Faith scrounging around for kittens as well. Anyway we are sitting in the kitchen and there is a soft breeze coming through the window and there was a pause in conversation you could hear the "Kansas Wind" whipping around and it was just so peaceful. It made me very nostalgic for home. I don't think that I am explaining myself well but I know if we lived here I wouldn't appreciate it you take things for granted when they are around all the time. That is the biggest lesson that I have learned since I have been home.

I was really worried about taking this trip but am glad in so many ways that we came. It is like we are opening a new chapter in our life and finding places to put the old chapters. This was really hard for me but just like everything in life what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I just wish there was more time. That is lesson number two I have learned. Time is not your friend it sneaks up and goes really fast right by you.

Namesake

This is a picture of my fabulous grandmother Elizabeth. She is the strongest woman I know. We saw her for the first time since she was sick yesterday. Wow she is such a fighter. I am so glad that we have this opportunity to spend time with her. She is so amazing. She was so close to not being here with us and she has fought her way back. She still is so quick and sharp at 92. I missed her birthday last weekend. I plan on making it up to her though.

She walks with her walker now and I said to her "man grandma you sure move faster than I do with that thing" her response " do you want to use it". She was so quick with that.

I love her.

I called this piece namesake so I guess I ought to get to that. My daughter Faith is Faith Elizabeth after my grandmother. I hope that my daughter is as strong and loving as my grandmother. I am glad that Faith is older now on this trip so she will remember her and maybe get to know her. It was so sweet to see Faith with grandma yesterday she was so gentle with her walking her to the lunch room she is so soft and loving guiding her. I am so very sad that my grandma can't see her but just to be able to be near her is worth it.

Happy Birthday Lori

Let me begin this blog with a shout out to my best friend in the world LORI JEFFERSON.

Lori and I have been friends since we were in Cosmetology School in 1996. She is celebrating her 37th birthday March 24th and I know she thinks that I forgot. Ha Ha I didn't!!!!!!! I made Lori the following card. Thanks Tammy for the great ideas.

I also had the opportunity to use a tool I have had for awhile and never used. It is the tag curler by Making memories. I think the tag ended up pretty cute.

The cards says:

What do you say to the woman who

Makes life mean just a little bit more
Loves me even though I never call
Is always there no matter what
Takes Cancer on like a champion and wins twice
Cuts my daughter’s umbilical cord
Can laugh about her hair even though she’s losing it
Brings me a ham carver combo even though I really am in labor
Lets me shout I love you at her even though the neighbors hear
Convinces my boyfriend that I am worth it even though I am crazy
Holds my hand as I give birth
Tells me everything is going to be okay when it’s not
Listens to me cry even though she’s the one going through it
Believes that I really can help her with Accounting
Loves me for who I really am not who I tell everyone I am.

Simply

I love you Happy Birthday

See I am capable of mushy mushy.

I love you girl have a great one.

Zutter

I know you all think that I am insane but here is the new product that I have my eye on and might purchase next. With my new deep cut blade for my new Cricut Expressions machine I am going to be able to be a chipboard cutting fool and this is how I could bind Custom made books. Watch out ETSY here I come. This product is called Zutter it makes projects like:
I know I am evil to show all these products. One day when I win the lottery I will open a really awesome scrapbook studio so we can all get together and do what we love.

New Product

My first Punkie Color

Here is my first Punkie Color I have done. I am talking about doing a strip of pink this summer for the girls.
It makes me want a few pieces... Maybe hot pink myself:)

Goodbye Twana

One of the ladies that I work with Twana is going back home and her last day is Friday. She stopped my office the other day and told me she better get an ornament as her going away present. So here is the ornament and container that I made for her.

Copy Cat

Like I was saying we have been looking at the Hero Arts catalog for days now. They have this card in their catalog and I loved it. Here is my first attempt at copying their design using Stampin Up Products. Here are the following supplies for this card:

Paper:

Old Olive, Pixie Pink, Whisper White

Ink:

Real Red, Basic Black, More Mustard, Pixie Pink, Garden Green

Stamps:

Goody Goody Gumdrop, Crazy for Cupcakes, Yummy (I will use this one for the Yum on the next card instead of hand writing it.)

Punches:

Circle Scallop

This is the link to the original.

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I will post another card when I finish it. I know what I am going to do different next time.

Brenda's Swap

So on our lovely snow day yesterday just as Brenda (who drives a 4WD truck) is about to drop me off I say to her how about doing the chinese take-out box as your swap.

Now the back story. We have been looking at the Hero Arts catalog for days now. http://www.heroarts.com/ and we had been looking at http://store.shopheroarts.com/cl297.html. So of course now she really wanted to get this set.

Unfortuneatly, they can't get here by Friday so here is her box. I expect to see this again with the dolls. She gave me this diecut plate for my Sizzix for either my birthday or Christmas. This is the same die-cut I did the Smore's box with.

Sunday is PJ day.

So Sunday is our stay in our Pajamas day. I always feel bad when people ask us to do something but Sunday is the day we stay in our PJ's all day and I get to craft and Frankie gets to do "gun stuff" and Faith does what Faith's do. Here is one of my creations that happened today.
